ARES system collects four categories of personal information
The registration information is related to the establishment of your user account. We collect your specific personally identifiable information during the account registration process, typically including your name, address or email address, the name of the institution or association with which you are affiliated, research areas, phone number, ORCID, etc.
The user information is the personally identifiable information you voluntarily provide when you use the website or service. For example, if you are an author when submitting a manuscript, you can choose to provide other information that you think the publisher or publication may be interested in, such as your age, gender, professional experience, and academic or professional qualifications.
Other users of ARES system may enter information to create an account for you when you are a co-author of the manuscript, or when you are considered fit to participate in peer review of the manuscript. We will notify you of the manuscript submission or invite you to join the review team by email. ARES Automatic Review Recommendation feature helps editors find potential peer reviews in the system database.
Like most web-based services, ARES system may collect some technical information when you visit the website, including Internet protocol address, login information, geographic location, browser type and version, operating system and platform, source of access, complete click path, etc. Technical information is only used for troubleshooting and product development. ARES system promises not to use this information for any tracking or marketing purposes.
